ABOUT PSAN

Who We Are

Peer Support and Advocacy Network (PSAN) is a consumer-run non-profit (501(c)3) organization offering peer support to individuals with mental illness through a variety of programs. All programs focus on recovery and the provision of hope and understanding.

Current programs include:

New Horizons

New Horizons is a drop-in center located in Bellevue offering advocacy services, peer support, a free nutritious lunch and many other ongoing programs for consumers. It is located at 616 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue, PA 15202. The hours of operation are Monday through Fri from 9:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday 1:00 to 5:00pm. The phone number is (412) 766-8060. Membership is free.

The Allegheny County Warmline

The Allegheny County Warmline is a consumer operated telephone support service provided in partnership with the Allegheny County Department of Human Services Office of Behavioral Health and Community Care Behavioral Health Organization. Telephone lines are open every day from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 AM. Telephone Support Specialists are specially trained peers who are able to provide support as well as referral information to residents of Allegheny County who are 18 years or older. The phone number is toll-free 866-661-WARM (9276). Services are free, and all information will remain confidential.

The Warm and Friendly Calling Program

The Warm and Friendly Calling Program is an expansion of the Warmline, placing calls to consumers at specific, pre-arranged times, in order to provide support or just to check in. The Warm and Friendly Call program is open to all consumers in Allegheny County who are 18 years or older. You can call 412-894-2364 to request an enrollment form or for more information.

Certified Peer Specialists

A Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) is an individual with lived mental health experience who has been trained and certified in the state of Pennsylvania on how to assist others in recovery and wellness. A Certified Peer Specialist performs a wide variety of tasks to assist individuals to regain control over their lives and their own recovery and wellness process. Trainings

Peer Support and Advocacy Network offers a variety of recovery and peer support trainings including Certified Peer Specialist training*, Certified Peer Specialist Supervisor training*, Older Adult Peer Specialist training, and WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) Facilitator training. *The Certified Peer Specialist and Certified Peer Specialist Supervisor trainings are offered through an affiliation agreement with the Institute for Recovery and Community Integration (A division of the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania).
